Mara Salvatrucha 13.

MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha is a criminal gang which originated in Los Santos and has spread all over the Los Santos streets. Members of the MS distinguish themselves ba tattoo's which cover their bodies and often their faces, as well, they use their own sign language. La Mara Salvatrucha gang originated in Los Santos, it was set up by Salvadoran immigrants in Los Santos, El Corona. Originally, the gangs main purpose was to protect Salvadorian immigrants, make them stick together. It was lead by a person which was known to do civillians as "Belial", things were going great, they've made themselves the biggest gang in Los Santos, until one day. People were lieing to the higher members, SWAT was doing raids on them every single day and they had no chances to survive. Nowadays, the gang is undergoing a renovation and it's believed that the leaders are, well their nicknames are Alfo and Ice. It's also believed that their "hood" is located at Willowfield at the dead end street.

• Drug trafficking, robbery, Larceny, extortion, human trafficking, illegal immigration, money laundering, murder, pandering, racketeering, assault, kidnapping and arms trafficking.

Many Mara Salvatrucha members cover themselves in tattoos. Common markings include "MS", "Salvatrucha", the "Devil Horns", the name of their clique, and other symbols. A December 2007 SAN internet news article stated that the gang was moving away from the tattoos in an attempt to commit crimes without being noticed.
Members of Mara Salvatrucha, like members of most modern American gangs, utilize a system of hand signs for purposes of identification and communication. One of the most commonly displayed is the "devil's head" which forms an 'M' when displayed upside down. This hand sign is similar to the same symbol commonly seen displayed by heavy metal musicians and their fans. Founders of Mara Salvatrucha borrowed the hand sign after attending concerts of heavy metal bands.


To get into the gang one must be "jumped in", which means they must be beat up for 13 seconds. After that they must learn how to "stack", which is a series of hand signs telling messages and codes. One of the most popular hand signs is the devils horn borrowed from metal from the original founders of the gang. And probably the most important detail in being part of MS 13 is your tattoos. Their tattoos represent stories, fallen comrades, and location. MS 13 also pride themselves in having their own kind of justice. In "check courting" if gang members do something wrong, they must be punished.
